The coffee-table book that inspires a whole new generation of surf explorers.
I’ve had a life-long love affair with New Zealand’s surf-tapped coastline and have been shooting ‘lineups’ since I picked up a board, and camera in school.
I had a desire to show the world what amazing waves we actually have in New Zealand, and at the same time, bring to life the stories of early New Zealand surf discovery.
So alongside renowned surf photographer Craig Levers (CPL) we self-published a 220 page coffee-table book of New Zealand’s best surf.
Covering the tip of the North to the bottom of the South, we sent a call out to NZ’s best photographers to send us their best shots, and the finest surf breaks on their ‘day of days’ made the cut.
Regional run-downs gave the reader an idea of the geographic and wave characteristics. Historical essays from local surf pioneers told the story of early NZ surf history for the first time.
The first print in 2012 sold through its 2000 print run, as did the second print of 2000 units in 2016.
